VIVA LAS VEGAS! (McAllen, Tex.) — What happens in Vegas, may stay in Vegas, but it will soon start in McAllen, Tex. as Allegiant Air, LLC, today announced new nonstop jet service to Las Vegas. The Las Vegas-based, low-fare airline will inaugurate scheduled service from the McAllen-Miller International Airport to McCarran International Airport (Las Vegas) beginning June 24, 2005. To kick off the new service, Allegiant is offering introductory fares as low as $79* one-way on flights from McAllen to Las Vegas. “We are extremely pleased to extend the Allegiant brand of low-fare, nonstop jet service to the McAllen community,” Maurice J. Gallagher, Allegiant Air president & CEO, said. “This is an exciting new addition for our airline and our customers as we launch the only scheduled nonstop service between the Rio Grande Valley and Las Vegas.” The new flights will operate twice weekly, with service Monday and Friday. Beginning June 24, flights will depart McAllen at 9:45 p.m. arriving in Las Vegas at 10:50 p.m. Flights leaving Las Vegas will depart at 4:05 p.m. arriving in McAllen at 9:05 p.m. (all flight times are local). “One of the most desired destinations for travelers in the Rio Grande Valley and Northeast Mexico is Las Vegas,” Derald Lary, Airport Director for McAllen-Miller International Airport. “We welcome them to our airport.” The carrier will utilize a full-size, 150-seat MD-80 jet aircraft on the route. The airline said that its market research and input from local community leaders indicate that the Rio Grande Valley area will welcome the new nonstop flights and low fares to Las Vegas as an alternative to connecting flights or long drives to other airports. Allegiant also offers complete air and hotel vacation packages to Las Vegas as low as $226* per person for four-nights, round-trip (based on double-occupancy, stay at the Four Queens Hotel & Casino and Monday departure and Friday return prior to Sept. 8, 2005), through its Allegiant Vacations program. Allegiant Vacations offers low-cost packages with 27 of Las Vegas’ most exciting hotel properties, including the Bellagio, Venetian, Paris, MGM Grand, Mandalay Bay, Monte Carlo, Mirage, Golden Nugget, Excalibur, Tropicana, Bally’s, Flamingo, Four Queens, Riviera, Frontier, Luxor, Circus Circus, Imperial Palace, Hotel San Remo, Gold Coast, Boardwalk, Westin Casuarina, Stardust, Orleans and Plaza. Allegiant’s $79* one-way introductory fare must be purchased by May 27, 2005 and is valid for travel June 24 through Sept. 30, 2005. After the introductory fare period, regular one-way fares on the route will range from $99 -$199, one-way. *All fares are based on round-trip travel and are non-refundable. Return fare is regular price. No advance purchase is required. Fares do not include PFC, segment tax or September 11 security fee of up to $10.20 per segment. Travel purchased at an Allegiant Air ticket counter or through Allegiant Air call centers will cost an additional $4.00 per segment. A segment is defined as one take-off and one landing. Any change in itinerary will result in a $25 per passenger, per segment, service fee plus any applicable fare difference. Seats are limited and fares may not be available on all flights.
