ALLEGIANT AIR ANNOUNCES NEW NONSTOP AIR SERVICE TO ORLANDO: CEDAR RAPIDS TO ORLANDO FOR JUST $59* (Cedar Rapids, Iowa)— Eastern Iowa, get your flip-flops and sunglasses ready! Allegiant Air, LLC today announces new, nonstop jet service to the fun and sun of Orlando, Fla. from Cedar Rapids, Iowa beginning Dec. 7. The same airline that brought Cedar Rapids low-fare, nonstop service to Las Vegas, will now offer low-cost, nonstop service to Orlando, with introductory fares as low as $59* each way, when booked at www.allegiantair.com. The self-proclaimed “Official Airline for Sunshine” will launch the new scheduled service from Eastern Iowa Airport to Orlando Sanford International Airport with complete vacation packages including air and hotel stay at the Rodeway Inn Maingate starting as low as $178** for three nights, per person based on double occupancy. (Package price reflects a Wednesday departure and Saturday return and may not be available on every flight.) This price even includes one complimentary breakfast. “We are extremely pleased to expand the Allegiant brand of low-fare, nonstop, jet service to Orlando,” Maurice J. Gallagher, Allegiant Air president & CEO, said. “This is an exciting new addition for our airline and our customers as we launch the only scheduled nonstop service between Cedar Rapids and the Sunshine State.” The new flights will operate twice weekly, with service Wednesday and Saturday. Flights will depart Cedar Rapids at 10:55 a.m. arriving in Orlando at 2:35 p.m. Flights leaving Orlando will depart at 8:30 a.m. arriving in Cedar Rapids at 10:20 a.m. (all flight times are local.) Allegiant will utilize 130-seat, MD-87 jet aircraft on the route. The Eastern Iowa Airport Director, Dan Mann, said the new service is going to be very popular. “Orlando is a major destination for Cedar Rapids and surrounding communities,” he said. “We are very excited to have Allegiant offer low-cost direct service to Orlando! The family vacation to Florida just got a whole lot easier for Eastern Iowa.” The airline launched service from Cedar Rapids to Las Vegas June, 24, 2004. The company said that its strong demand from current customers and input from local community leaders indicates that the Cedar Rapids area will welcome the new nonstop flights and low fares to Orlando as an alternative to connecting flights or long drives to other airports. The Allegiant Vacations division of the company will offer low-cost packages with 18 of Orlando’s most exciting hotel properties and three in Daytona Beach. Partner properties include The Swan, The Dolphin, The Hilton in Lake Buena Vista and the Radisson Parkway. Low-cost packages are available to include hotel, car and amusement park tickets for additional savings.
