NORTH COUNTRY, GET READY TO SOAK UP THE FUN IN SUNNY SOUTH FLORIDA! ALLEGIANT AIR ANNOUNCES NONSTOP FLIGHTS FROM PLATTSBURGH TO FORT LAUDERDALE FOR $79*

(Plattsburgh, N.Y.)-- North Country, N.Y. residents will soon have a way to get to the sun as Allegiant Air, LLC announces new, nonstop jet service to Fort Lauderdale, Fla. from the Plattsburgh International Airport beginning Nov. 16. The low-fare carrier will celebrate the convenient new service to sunny South Florida with introductory fares as low as $79* each-way.

“We are extremely pleased to expand the Allegiant brand of low-fare, nonstop jet service to the North Country community,” Maurice J. Gallagher, Jr., president, CEO and Chairman for Allegiant said. “This is an exciting new addition for our airline and our customers as we launch the only scheduled service between Plattsburgh and Fort Lauderdale.”

The new flights will operate two times weekly, with service Tuesday and Friday. Flights will depart the Plattsburgh International Airport at 6 p.m. arriving in Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport at 9:20 p.m. Flights leaving Fort Lauderdale will depart at 1:55 p.m. arriving in Plattsburgh at 5:25 p.m. (all flight times are local.)

Fort Lauderdale offers the ultimate escape to sunny South Florida, with miles of blue waterways, soft golden sand and gentle ocean breezes. Located in the center of South Florida's Gold Coast, 40 miles from Palm Beach and 25 miles from Miami, Fort Lauderdale stretches from Deerfield Beach and Pompano Beach in the north to Hollywood and Hallandale Beach in the south. The area offers 300 miles of navigable inland waterways and 44,000 resident yachts, making it recognized as the “Yachting Capital of the World” and the “Venice of America.” From the Blue Wave beaches, to the yacht-filled waterways, to the exotic Everglades, every visit is a fresh taste of paradise.

"I am pleased that Allegiant Air has decided to bring their service to this newly opened, state of the art airport here in Plattsburgh," U.S. Senator Hilary Clinton, said. "In addition to providing local residents with affordable access to new destinations, these flights have the opportunity to draw tourism and attract other business prospects to the area. The cooperation between Plattsburgh International Airport and the region’s leadership to secure unique air service options is an example of what can be accomplished when people work together to invest in the economic growth of the region."

"I am pleased to join community elected officials and business leaders in welcoming Allegiant Air to Plattsburgh," Senator Betty Little, said. "This new service to Fort Lauderdale is a timely and appropriate fit for our North Country market. Area residents will have plenty of time to book their trip to Florida in anticipation of a winter getaway with the new benefit of an airline service that is close by and convenient."

“Allegiant Air’s arrival to Plattsburgh International Airport ushers in a new era for the greater Plattsburgh area and all of Northern New York,” James R. Langley, Jr., Chairperson of Clinton County Legislature, said. “Local residents have long sought a direct warm weather destination flight from a local airport, and I believe our Canadian friends north of the border will also delight in the convenience offered by Allegiant Air and the Plattsburgh International Airport. The proposed itinerary for Allegiant Air from Plattsburgh is destined for success and is the realization of the promise made by many community leaders following closure of the former Plattsburgh Air Force Base and the decision to move operations from the Clinton County Airport to the new Plattsburgh International Airport. I expect the marriage between Allegiant Air and Plattsburgh to be happy, and one which will benefit both partners and local residents and businesses for a long time.”

"Allegiant was the first airline we approached last year because they are already successful at border airports such as Bellingham, Washington and truly understand the exciting opportunity at Plattsburgh," Garry Douglas, President of the Plattsburgh-North Country Chamber of Commerce, said. "With Fort Lauderdale identified in our surveys as the number one destination Montrealers hoped to reach from Plattsburgh, we know Allegiant will not only be successful here but will develop additional flights and destinations over the next few years. Montreal's U.S. airport is off and flying!"

The airline commented market research and input from local community leaders indicate the North Country and bordering Canadian communities will welcome the new nonstop flights and low-fares to South Florida as an alternative to connecting flights and long drives to other airports. Allegiant will utilize 150-seat, MD-80 series, jet-aircraft on the route.

As a full-service travel company, Allegiant provides even greater savings to customers by offering complete, low-cost vacation packages.
