About Allegiant Air

Founded in 1997, Allegiant Airlines offers all-jet passenger service from America's favorite small cities to world-class destinations.

At Allegiant, travel is our deal! This means doing things a little differently than every other airline. For example, we don’t fly to every city.

We fly from smaller regional airports (and a few big ones, too). Our customers expect great fares to great vacation areas - like Las Vegas, Phoenix, Hawaii, and the Orlando area – so that’s what we give them. (view route map)

We don’t fly every day, only the days when most people want to fly. Flying fewer flights with more passengers means we’re able to pass the savings on to you.

You pay for the services you choose to useFor example, not everyone travels with checked luggage, so instead of adding a bag fee to every ticket, you only pay to cover the costs of the bags you choose to bring. It’s just one more way we’re able to let passengers customize their travel in order to suit more budgets.

We offer specially-negotiated package vacations deals!

Allegiant customers are eligible for exclusive savings on hotel rooms, rental cars, show tickets and more as part of an airline ticket package. You won’t find these deals anywhere else. You see, we don’t want to be all things to all people. We want to be the one airline you think of when you need a great vacation at a great price.

At Allegiant, travel is our deal!

Can we purchase our tickets at the airport?

Travelers are advised to book in advance through the Allegiant Air Web site or customer call center. Airline tickets for same day travel may be purchased at the airport ticket counter based on availability. Airport ticket counter hours are limited and vary by location.

How do I contact customer service?

In order to give each customer's concerns the attention that they deserve, Allegiant asks that all issues concerning completed travel be sent in writing to:

What happens if I board and there isn’t room for my carry-on luggage?

In the case that your bag is oversized and/or there is not room on board the aircraft for your carry-on bag, your bag will be gate-checked and you will be able to retrieve it at baggage claim at your destination airport.
If your bag is gate-checked, we recommend you remove any valuables, keys, electronics, medications, fragile items, and items you may need during the flight.

What is the process for boarding with a battery operated device?

Battery Powered Mobility Aids:
Battery powered mobility devices (wheelchairs/scooters, etc.) will be checked at no additional charge at the ticket counter or gate and transported if the cargo compartment is large enough and if all federal HAZMAT safety regulations are satisfied.
Additionally, it is recommended that all removable parts (i.e., cushions, arm or leg rests, and side guards) be stowed in an overhead bin or under a seat if the parts fit and also meet all FAA safety requirements for onboard stowage.
In some situations, it will be necessary to remove the battery from the passenger’s wheelchair or other mobility device, and to package it separately:

  • Any spillable battery contained in a wheelchair that cannot be loaded, stowed, and secured and unloaded in an upright position
  • Any battery that is not securely attached to a wheelchair
  • Any lithium-ion battery

Segway devices cannot be accepted for transport as the lithium-ion batteries exceed the allowable battery size limit.
Proper labeling of battery cables and/or providing detailed disconnection and reconnection directions will assist ground personnel at the departure or destination city to easily disconnect/reconnect the battery to the wheelchair/scooter.
Click here to download the wheelchair description form.
Wet Cell (Spillable) Batteries
If your wheelchair/scooter is powered by a wet cell (spillable) battery, reveals no obvious defects or leaking, the battery will be removed, placed in a protective battery box, as required by federal HAZMAT safety regulations, and loaded into the cargo compartment of the aircraft at no additional charge.
Lithium-Ion (Li-ion) Batteries
If your wheelchair/scooter is powered by a lithium-ion (Li-ion) battery, Allegiant personnel must be able to determine that the battery is approved for transportation and must meet specific criteria, such as:

  • Show no signs of any defects
  • Battery terminals protected from short circuit
  • Securely attached to the mobility aid
  • Electrical circuits are isolated.

If your device is specifically designed to allow its battery to be easily removed (i.e. a collapsible scooter, etc.), the battery must be:

  • Carried onboard to be stored in the cabin
  • Protected from short circuit
  • Batteries must have 25 grams of equivalent lithium content (ELC) or less, or rated 300 watt hours or less
  • Labeled, or provide documentation showing the battery has been UN P.T. lll Section 38.3 tested
  • Allegiant will not transport more than 2 batteries at 25 grams ELC or rated 300 watt hours or less per person

Dry Cell (Non-spillable) Batteries
If your wheelchair/scooter is powered by a dry cell (non-spillable) battery, it should not require disconnection from the device, unless the device meets any of the criteria listed below:

  • Not securely attached to the wheelchair or mobility aid
  • Does not have a means of preventing activation (key turned to “off” and removed, on/off switch in the “off” position, etc.)
  • Has obvious defects

Other Assistive Devices
Other assistive devices, such as walkers, canes, crutches, CPAP machines, etc., that can be stowed in compliance with FAA safety regulations, will not be counted toward your one carry-on plus one personal item limit. If an assistive device cannot be stored safely in the cabin, we will tag your device and transport it in the cargo compartment.

What kind of car seat or child restraint device is acceptable?

Where can I find items left on a plane or in the terminal?

Items found in the terminal or on the aircraft are turned into the local baggage service department. All lost articles are logged and held at the local baggage office until the passenger claims them, or makes arrangements to have them shipped at the owner's expense. All items found in the Lost & Found inventory are held for thirty (30) days. After that time, unclaimed items are forwarded to System Baggage Service for salvage. All high value items are locked in a secure area whenever possible to reduce the possibility of theft. All passengers with Lost & Found issues are asked to go to the airport where the articles were lost. Passengers may also complete a lost item form by clicking here.

Most passengers should be able to check in online or via the free Allegiant2Go mobile app, however some passengers will not be able to print a boarding pass and will be instructed to check in at the airport ticket counter, in which case the airport boarding pass printing fees will be waived.

The reason for this is usually so that we can best accommodate special service requests on a passenger itinerary (such as a pet in cabin, wheelchair, or special need) or to better seat families together.

Remember, even if you check in online, we recommend all passengers arrive at the airport at least 2 hours before scheduled flight departure.

Checked baggage must be brought to the airline ticket counter at least one hour before departure.

If you decide to deplane at the alternate city, Allegiant Air will not be liable for any cost for alternate transportations, meals, hotel or any other overnight expenses incurred. However, we will assist in finding discounted or “Distressed Passenger” rates at local hotels to help minimize the cost and inconvenience. Please check with an Allegiant Air representative for assistance.

Depending on the alternate city’s ground capabilities, it may not always be possible to off load checked luggage. If you chose to deplane and we cannot off load your checked luggage, your luggage will be sent to your destination on a later Allegiant Air flight. All luggage will be kept at your destination city for pick up at your convenience.

What are my options if my flight is returned to its origination city due to a weather advisory?

If the flight returns to the origination city due to a weather advisory and is consequently cancelled, it will be rescheduled for the next day, weather permitting, and you will be moved to the rescheduled flight.

What forms of payment do you accept?

Allegiant accepts the following debit cards -- Mastercard Debit and Visa Debit -- as well as the following credit cards: Discover, MasterCard and Visa. Allegiant Air does not accept cash, checks, or money orders at any airport location.

The prices shown on our website reflect a debit card discount that is available to travelers who use a debit card for their total purchase. Prices are higher for credit card purchases. Both the credit and debit card prices can be viewed wherever a price is displayed. Both prices are shown in the Trip Summary area whenever you add anything to your trip itinerary.

What if I want to use both a debit card and a credit card to make my purchase?

We’re sorry, but we can only accommodate one form of card payment for your purchase at this time.

What if the itinerary I purchased does not show up when viewing my Open Itineraries?

If your previous itinerary was purchased under a different email address, you will not be able to view the itinerary. Please contact the Allegiant Reservations Center with any questions regarding your previous itineraries.

What if the system tells me an account already exists for my email address?

Try to log in using the email address and your password. If you do not remember your password please attempt to reset your password. If you are unable to reset your password, please contact Customer Care for assistance.

What is a weather advisory?

Allegiant may issue a weather advisory when weather conditions may possibly prevent your flight from landing at your planned destination because airport conditions or visibility fall below standard FAA and Company safety requirements. This means we may not be able to operate your flight or may have to fly to an alternate airport.

Passengers under the age of 18 will not be permitted to travel on weather advised flights if they are not travelling with an adult 18 years of age or older.

What is your refund policy?

Qualifying itineraries can be cancelled without penalty by contacting Customer Care within 24 hours of booking, provided the scheduled time of departure was at least one week (168 hours) away at time of booking. Otherwise, all purchases of travel, hotel, auto, activities or services, baggage and seat fees, and related booking fees, carrier charges, and taxes are non-refundable.

If you do choose to cancel or change your reservation, any remaining credit will be issued in the form of a travel voucher. Other Special Passengers

Are all overweight persons subject to the policy?

Many customers may choose to use a seatbelt extension but occupy only one seat. These customers would not be asked to purchase an additional seat. If, however, a customer cannot lower the armrest and is unable to comfortably and safely travel with it in the down position, he/she will be required to purchase an additional seat.

Can I be pre-approved as needing only one seat?
Because size can fluctuate, we are unable to give blanket or pre-approved authorization.
Can I travel with liquid or compressed oxygen?

Liquid oxygen cannot be carried onboard any Allegiant aircraft.

Allegiant is not equipped to transport or provide medical oxygen or other hazardous materials and/or contained gas either in the passenger cabin or as cargo or baggage.

Any customer requiring a constant supply of compressed or liquid medical oxygen cannot travel on Allegiant. If there is a question as to a customer's ability to travel the duration of a flight without the use of medical oxygen, Allegiant requires the user to have a written statement from a licensed physician to verify the customer can complete the flight safely and without the use of medical oxygen. Click here to get the Physician Consent Form template. The Physician Consent Form will only be accepted if printed on the physician's letterhead and fully completed.

Please note, certain units identified as ventilators, respirators, continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) machines and Portable Oxygen Concentrators are acceptable as checked or carry-on baggage if the units fit the size limitations for under the seat or overhead stowage

Does Allegiant make accommodations for passengers with other allergies?

Allegiant does not guarantee an allergen-free flight. Upon request, Allegiant will attempt to re-seat a passenger affected by an allergy in an effort to minimize the passenger's exposure to the allergen. For more information, please see: Does Allegiant make accommodations for passengers with peanut dust allergies?

Does Allegiant make accommodations for passengers with peanut dust allergies?

Allegiant does not maintain a peanut-free zone on any aircraft. Allegiant serves products that may have been manufactured in facilities that process peanuts or peanut-based products. Customers are also allowed to bring food onboard the aircraft and may bring products that are manufactured in facilities that process peanuts or peanut-based products. Allegiant cannot control what foods customers bring on the plane and does not guarantee a peanut-free or allergen-free flight. Upon request, Allegiant will attempt to re-seat a passenger affected by a peanut dust allergy in an effort to minimize the passenger’s exposure to the allergen.

Does Allegiant supply oxygen tanks for passenger use onboard?

Allegiant does not provide oxygen for passenger use onboard. Please refer to: What are the rules for traveling with a respiratory device?

How do I contact the Department of Transportation to obtain a copy of 14 CFR Part 382, the rules implementing the Air Carrier Access Act?
  1. For calls made from within the United States, by telephone via the Toll-Free Hotline for Air Travelers with Disabilities at 1–800–778–4838 (voice) or 1–800–455–9880 (TTY),
  2. By telephone to the Aviation Consumer Protection Division at 202–366–2220 (voice) or 202–366–0511 (TTY),
  3. By mail to the Air Consumer Protection Division, C–75, U.S. Department of Transportation, 1200 New Jersey Ave. SE, West Building, Room W96–432, Washington, DC 20590, and
  4. On the Aviation Consumer Protection Division's website:http://airconsumer.ost.dot.gov.
How do I know if I am a customer of size?

The armrest is the definitive gauge, as it serves as the boundary between seats. Customers who are unable to lower the armrest and/or compromise any portion of adjacent seat(s) should proactively book the number of seats needed during the initial booking. Allegiant seats measure 17.8" from inside of armrest to inside of armrest.

Our mission and responsibility per our Contract of Carriage is to provide safe and comfortable air transportation for each and every customer.

How do I make a reservation for a passenger who requires Portable Oxygen?
  1. At the time the reservation is made, please inform Reservations Agent of the intended use of a ventilator, respirator, CPAP machine, or Portable Oxygen Concentrator (POC) and the model of the POC to be used.
  2. If booking through a travel agent or online, the customer should call the Allegiant Reservations Center and make arrangements at least 48 hours before flight departure.
  3. letter from a physician is required for passengers travelling with portable oxygen.
How do I request special assistance for a disabled passenger?
When booking a reservation online or over the phone, a special request can be made for the passenger who is requesting special assistance. Also, please feel free to contact the Allegiant Reservations Center and request the assistance to be added to the reservation.
How will you ensure no one takes the seat beside me if I've purchased a second seat?

When a second seat is purchased during the initial booking process, two seats will be pre-assigned (at no additional charge) in order to ensure the customer of size has two seats side-by-side. If a second seat is purchased on the date of travel, the agent will be unable to sell the second seat unless they can ensure two seats are available side-by-side. In the event the flight is sold out and an extra seat is unavailable, the customer of size shall be denied travel in the interest of safety.

I am a large person and use a seatbelt extension, but I fit in one seat. Do I have to purchase two seats?

Our policy does not focus on weight, and the seatbelt extension is not the determining factor. We use the ability to lower the armrests as the gauge, as the armrests are truly the definitive boundary between each seat.

I use a walker/cane. Will I have to pay to bring it with me?

No.  There is not a fee to travel with required medical or assistive devices such as walkers, canes, and strollers.

I'm pregnant; will I have to purchase two seats?

A woman who is pregnant will not necessarily need to occupy two seats if she can lower the armrest.

If a customer has broad shoulders, will he/she have to buy a second seat?

Again, if a customer cannot lower the armrests, the additional seat purchase is necessary. Simply having broad shoulders would not necessarily prevent another customer from occupying adjoining seats. The upper body can be adjusted, but the portion of the body in the actual seating and armrest area doesn't have this flexibility.

If a flight is "open," do I still need to purchase an additional seat?

No, if on the day of travel we can accommodate you by having open seats we will do so at no charge. However, we have no way of knowing what the booking levels will be: if no seats are available to purchase, you may be denied travel without any type of compensation.

Is there a fee to carry aboard a Portable Oxygen Concentrator or medical assistive device?

In accordance with DOT guidelines, there is no fee to transport medical equipment for passenger use.

Per the Department of Transportation (DOT):

  • "The limit of one carry-on bag and one personal bag (e.g., purse or briefcase) for each traveler does not apply to medical supplies and/or assistive devices (including service animals and their equipment). Passengers with disabilities generally may carry medical equipment, medications, and assistive devices on board the aircraft."

Certain devices (such as Portable Oxygen Concentrators _POCs) may require completion of our Physician Consent Form (see related FAQ) and may require at-airport safety inspection.

For more information, please visit: www.dot.gov/sites/dot.dev/files/docs/20011029.pdf

What are the federal regulations regarding nondiscrimination on the basis of disability in air travel?

The U.S Government provides regulations to ensure nondiscrimination on the basis of disability in version of 14 CFR Part 382, the rules implementing the Air Carrier Access Act (ACAA).

What are the rules for traveling with a respiratory device?
  1. Only certain devices are approved for use by a passenger onboard an Allegiant aircraft. Please refer to Which type of respiratory assistance devices are approved for use onboard any Allegiant flight?
  2. The portable oxygen concentrator must not interfere with the electrical, navigation or communication equipment on the aircraft on which the device is to be used. The POC may only be used in its battery-operated mode. Allegiant does not have electrical outlets onboard for commercial product use:
  3. A letter from a licensed physician is required. Click here to get the Physician Consent Form template. Please note: The Physician Consent Form will only be accepted if printed on the physician's letterhead and fully completed.
  4. During movement of the aircraft on the surface, takeoff, and landing, the portable oxygen concentrator must: ·
    • Be stowed under the seat in front of the user so that it does not block the aisle or the entry into the row (window seat only);
    • If it is to be operated by the user, be used only at a seat location that does not restrict any passenger's access to, or use of, any required emergency or regular exit, or the aisle(s) in the passenger compartment;
    • Persons using a portable oxygen concentrator are not permitted to sit in an exit row or bulkhead; and
    • When the "Fasten Seat Belt" sign is turned off, passengers operating their portable oxygen concentrator may continue to operate it while moving about the cabin.
  5. The user of the portable oxygen concentrator must comply with the following conditions to use the device onboard the aircraft:
    • The user must be capable of hearing the unit's alarms, seeing the alarm light indicators, and have the ability to take the appropriate action in response to the various caution and warning alarms and alarm light indicators, or be traveling with someone who is capable of performing those functions;
    • The user must ensure the portable oxygen concentrator is free of oil, grease or other petroleum products, is in good condition, and free from damage or other signs of excessive wear or abuse;
    • The user must inform Allegiant that he or she intends to use a portable oxygen concentrator onboard the aircraft.       • b. state whether or not oxygen use is medically necessary for all or a portion of the duration of the trip and;
      • c. specify the maximum oxygen flow rate corresponding to the pressure in the cabin of the aircraft under normal operating conditions.
  • Only lotions or salves that are oxygen-approved may be used by persons using the portable oxygen concentrator device.
  • The user must carry on the flight a sufficient number of batteries to power the device for the duration of the oxygen use specified in the physician's statement, including a conservative estimate of any unanticipated delays;
  • The user must ensure that all batteries carried onboard the aircraft in carry-on baggage are protected from short circuit and are packaged in a manner that protects them from physical damage; and
  • When a battery-powered portable oxygen concentrator is carried onboard the aircraft as carry-on baggage and is not intended to be used during the flight, the battery must be removed and packaged separately unless the Concentrator contains at least two effective features to prevent accidental operation during transport.
What is Allegiant's policy for pregnant women?

We recommend that pregnant passengers consult a physician before flying. If pregnant passenger's due date is within forty-five (45) days of travel, Allegiant requires a note from a physician.

What is the cost of the additional seat?

If a customer purchases an additional seat upon initial booking, the second seat will be sold at the same low fare as the first seat. Pre-selected seat fees shall be waived to ensure the customer gets two seats side-by-side. A second seat may be purchased up to or on the date of travel at the lowest fare available, but all purchases are based on availability.

What should I expect at the airport if I am traveling with an approved respiratory device?
  1. The passenger using qualifying respiratory device or portable oxygen concentrator must check in and arrive at the departure gate no less than one hour prior to departure.
  2. Prior to boarding, an Allegiant Customer Service Agent will verify the ventilator, respirator, CPAP machine, or POC model and physician's letter.
  3. Although pre-boarding is not required, we strongly recommend that customers using approved respiratory devices in the aircraft pre-board with the Pre-boarding Group.

Why can't a large customer sit with a family member who doesn't mind being encroached upon, or a small child/person who doesn't take a full seat?
If you are traveling with a travel companion who doesn't mind encroachment from the adjacent seatmate, we will allow your companion to occupy the seat adjacent to you, assuming it poses no safety concerns. Do I need to confirm my reservation 24 hours prior to departure?

No. You are not expected to confirm your flight. We do, however, encourage you to check in online starting 24 hours before and up to 60 minutes prior to flight departure. That way, you can verify your itinerary, reserve your checked and carry-on bags, view your seat assignments and print a boarding pass.

Does Allegiant have seat assignments?

Passengers may make seat selections and pre-purchase seat assignments for a nominal fee in advance of travel. The best way to ensure that passengers will be able to sit together is to pre-purchase a seat assignment.

  • When you check in for your flight, (whether online or at the airport), you will be assigned a seat by our system.
  • If you check in online, you will be able to view your assigned seats and upgrade if desired.
  • You can change or purchase seats on an existing reservation by logging in to Manage Travel up to 60 minutes before flight departure and as long as a boarding pass has not been printed for that reservation.

Please arrive at the airport at least 2 hours prior to your scheduled flight departure.
Plan to be completely checked in, through airport security and at the departure boarding gate at least one hour before your flight.

There are three ways to check in for your flight: online, mobile (available at select airports) or at the airport. Remember, starting September 2, 2014, there will be a $5 fee per boarding pass to have an agent print a boarding pass at the airport. Please plan to bring a printed paper boarding pass with you to the airport or use the free and paperless Allegiant2Go mobile app. Please note: Not all passengers can check in online. Some passengers (such as passengers with pets or special needs) may be required to check in at the airport ticket counter, in which case the $5 fee will be waived.

Online check-in (FREE):
You can check in online starting 24 hours before your flight by visiting Check-in.

Verify your seat assignments and bag reservations then print your boarding pass. It's easy!

Mobile via the Allegiant2Go App (FREE):
Passengers can download the free Allegiant2Go App for iPhone and Android and check in using a mobile phone.

At Airport Boarding Pass Print Out ($5 per Boarding Pass):
Fees are higher at the airport. To save money and time, Allegiant recommends all passengers check in, verify seats, reserve bags and procure boarding passes before arrival at the airport.

For passengers checking luggage, checked baggage must be brought to the airport ticket counter at least one hour (and no greater than four hours) before flight departure.

Otherwise, proceed through TSA airport security to the boarding gate.

At the airport:
Locate the Allegiant airline ticket counter and present your confirmation number and a government-issued photo ID such as a driver's license or passport.

All passengers over the age of 18 must present a photo ID.

The reason for this is usually so that we can best accommodate special service requests on a passenger itinerary (such as a pet in cabin, wheelchair, or special need) or to better seat families together.

Children between the age of fifteen (15) years old and seventeen (17) years old can be booked online with no extra fees.

Can I still bring a carry-on bag if I also have a stroller and a purse?

Yes, each passenger may bring one carry-on bag and one personal item in addition to necessary medical and assistive devices (including strollers), one jacket or coat, a small umbrella, food for consumption en route and/or a diaper bag.   There is a fee to bring a carry-on bag which must not exceed the maximum carry-on bag size.

Can I take a stroller and car seat to the boarding gate?

Each fare-paying passenger is allowed to take a stroller or a car seat to the boarding area. The stroller or car seat can also be checked at the time of check-in. If the stroller or car seat is taken to the gate, it will be "Gate Checked". This means that it will be stowed in the cargo hold of the aircraft and can then be picked up at gate side upon reaching the aircraft's final destination.

If I have a stroller, do I have to pay for that? Can I pick it up at the gate/jetway at my destination?

There is not a fee to gate check a stroller.  Strollers will be delivered to the gate/jetway upon arrival.

What are the ages and restrictions for a Lap Child?

Children who are between fifteen (15) days old and under the age of two (2) years old will not be charged if they are not occupying a seat and accompanied by a fare-paying passenger who is fifteen (15) years of age or older. What are the ages and restrictions for children?

Children fourteen (14) years and younger must be accompanied by an adult fifteen (15) or older. Allegiant does not offer unaccompanied minor services.

Allegiant requires that children between fourteen (14) months and twenty-four (24) months of age carry a certified copy of their birth certificate with a raised seal to prove their age. TSA requires government-issued identification for all passengers over eighteen (18) years of age. If a passenger appears to be eighteen (18) years of age, it is recommended they bring photo identification. Allegiant requires age verification for all passengers under the age of 18 who are traveling alone. Failure to provide proof of age will result in denied boarding. Photo identification must be issued by a state or national government (such as a driver license, state issued identification cards, or passport). Individuals without government-issued identification may be required to undergo additional security screening.
