BASIC FUNCTION:
Schedule the airline
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACTIVITIES:
• Schedule the airline, including new seasonal schedules, re-vamping schedules in light of external events (such as fuel increases/decrease, actions of competitors), changing parts of the schedule in light of actions at particular airports and as needed.
• Create prospective, speculative and other “what-if” schedules for the airline on an as-needed basis.
• Scheduling responsibility encompasses Allegiant’s scheduled system and its ad-hoc charter programs. Will eventually supervise (and perhaps even assume) scheduling of Allegiant’s track charter program.
• Work closely with capacity planning personnel to implement appropriate frequency levels in each market
• Work closely with network planning personnel to create “what-if” schedules, and schedules for new markets, as needed
• Work closely with pricing personnel to ensure the correct flights are being sold in our reservation systems
• Work closely with stations personnel to ensure the schedule is feasible at each Allegiant airport
• Work closely with dispatch to ensure the schedule is consistent with feasible routings of aircraft
• Work closely with maintenance planning personnel to carve out time in the schedule for aircraft maintenance.
• Work closely with crew planning to ensure the schedule is consistent with efficient use of crews
• Work closely with charter marketing personnel to allocate aircraft time for charter programs.
• Will have ongoing responsibility for ensuring Allegiant scheduling system integrates well with operations and reservation systems
• Must be flexible, self-motivated, and happy working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial and somewhat unstructured environment.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Must pass a ten (10) year background check and pre-employment drug screen
• Must have authorization to work in the U.S. as defined in the Immigrations Act of 1986
REPORTS TO: VP Planning
SUPERVISES: Initially, one scheduling analyst. The successful Director of Scheduling candidate will have the opportunity to hire for this position. In fact this will be one of the first actions of the successful candidate.
INTERACTIONS: Described under “Principal Responsibilities” above.
REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred. A graduate degree in a relevant field (e.g. operations research, finance, etc) would be an advantage but is not required.
Experience: Significant experience, interest in and enjoyment of airline scheduling. Likely several years experience with primary responsibility scheduling a smaller airline, or perhaps several years with significant responsibility for scheduling part of a major airline. Experience in other airline departments an advantage.
Knowledge: Some familiarity with IT and/or programming concepts an advantage but not required.
Working conditions: Office (cube) environment. Travel demands should be modest.
