BASIC FUNCTION:
The Maintenance Shift Manager is responsible for assigning and coordinating work assignments with Team Leaders. Assumes responsibility for all MX functions on his/her shift and or station. Ensures all work is performed in accordance with the GMM and FAR's in a safe, and reliable manner. Directs and controls all shift turnovers in cooperation with the Team Leaders. Keeps Regional Manager advised of any AOG or problem situations that could result in work delays. Communicates with Maintenance Management and Maintenance Control on a daily basis via web and conference calls. Additional tasks as assigned by the Regional Maintenance Manager or the D.O.M.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACTIVITIES:
- Laying out & assuming control of quality & quantity of work assignments
- Ensures that work is performed in a safe manner & in accordance with company manuals, manufacturer’s manuals & FAA requirements
- Coordinate work & jobs in progress with oncoming mechanics during shift change
- Ensure that paperwork, tags, etc., are properly filled out & signed including tags for parts removal from aircraft
- Maintain work areas in a clean & orderly manner
- Give on-the-job training instructions & information on job procedures, safety & good work practices
- Works closely with Flight Control to keep the airline operating efficiently & in a safe, reliable manner by offering alterations to flight cancellations due to maintenance problems
- Coordinates closely with Maintenance Controller for stations having on Call maintenance to ensure availability of parts, personnel & tools to return aircraft to service
- Initiates & monitors shift turnover sheets. Communicates all facts requiring management action
- Keep the Manager of Maintenance advised of problems that could result in work delays
- Coordinate with Quality to expedite required maintenance functions
- Take necessary action to ensure that maintenance personnel in their group are qualified to accomplish the duties assigned to them
- Efficiently utilize manpower, making possible adjustments in methods & perfection of procedures to provide continuous improvement in efficiency & increase of production of his or her group
- Endeavor to increase their own knowledge by studying of technical material & study guides provided for that purpose
- Ascertain that all labor & materials used by their group are allocated to the proper job documents
- Other duties as specified by the Manager of Maintenance
- Must pass a ten (10) year background check and pre-employment drug screen
- Must have authorization to work in the U.S. as defined in the Immigrations Act of 1986
REPORTS TO: Regional Maintenance Manager
SUPERVISES: Team Leaders/Mechanics
INTERACTIONS: Maintenance Control/Maintenance Planning/Quality/Flight Operations/Material Services/Maintenance managers
REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS
Education: High School diploma or equivalent; College degree preferred; A&P Certificate program or equivalent; A&P license;
Experience: 2 years in aviation maintenance
Knowledge: Troubleshooting skills/Systems/Avionics/Powerplant/Windows applications
Working conditions: Outdoors & office environment
Physical demands: Lift 50 lbs/fit in tight spaces/able to bend & lift objects above their head
