Extending along the southern shore of beautiful Charlotte Harbor on Florida’s west coast, the Punta Gorda Harborwalk invites Allegiant travelers to walk, run, play, shop and dine as they follow this 2.4 mile paved path for fun in the sun. The whole family will enjoy this outing!
There is plenty of free parking at the east end of the Punta Gorda Harborwalk. The parking lot is located on the north side of East Marion Avenue across from the Charlotte Regional Medical Center.
As you begin following the Harborwalk, be sure to take a photo-op at the Spirit of Punta Gorda Sculpture. Symbolizing the enduring spirit of local residents during Hurricane Charley in 2004, this beautiful sculpture depicts a palm tree standing tall and one swaying in the wind.
Laishley Park is a featured destination along the Harborwalk. This pet-friendly park is home to 17 acres with amenities that include a 400-foot fishing pier, concert area and event lawn, and Veteran’s Park Memorial Garden. Kids of all ages can frolic in the Laishley Park Interactive Fountain. The neighboring play area will also delight the kids.
Take a break from all of the fun in the sun and fuel hearty appetites at Laishley Crab House. This waterfront eatery, with its rustic interior and breezy deck, offers up delightful seafood classics and sushi selections. Admire scenic views of Laishley Marina while dining. This 94-slip marina provides direct access to Charlotte Harbor, the second largest harbor in Florida.
Enjoy a yummy treat at Haborwalk Scoops and Bites before passing underneath the Barron Collier Bridge. Cool refreshments and light fare beckon at the Four Points by Sheraton’s TT’s Tiki Bar, which is located right along the path. Then, pass by the Charlotte Harbor Event & Conference Center before going under the Gilchrist Bridge.
Be sure to take time to explore Gilchrist Park with its sweeping views of Charlotte Harbor. Park, with amenities include a large playground, basketball, tennis and pickleball courts, fishing pier, gazebo, and picnic pavilions. You might even see a wedding, craft show or concert.
The Punta Gorda Harborwalk ends at Fishermen’s Village, a colorful and eclectic waterfront shopping and dining complex. Have a bite to eat and shop for that special memento to take home with you.
