Stellar Brunch Spots in Southwest Florida

By Heather Turk

There’s no better way to celebrate the weekend than enjoying a leisurely brunch with friends or family. Punta Gorda/Englewood Beach has several restaurants in the area that offer this increasingly popular mid-morning meal.

The Sunday brunch buffet at Hurricane Charley’s Raw Bar & Grill

Winner of the 2016 Charlotte Sun Reader’s Choice Award for Best Sunday Brunch, this waterfront restaurant in Punta Gorda serves Sunday brunch from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Priced at just $12.50, the bountiful brunch buffet features a smorgasbord of breakfast and lunch favorites, including eggs prepared several different ways, as well as a carving station with selections that change weekly and a full salad bar. Guests can also indulge in a Bloody Mary bar for just $5 more. Starting at 11 a.m., guests can order selections off the restaurant’s lunch menu, too, which includes such delectable dishes as the Lobster Overdose: succulent lobster on a buttery split-top roll served with a cup of lobster bisque and a side of coleslaw.

Charming Tina’s Cafe & Bakery Vienna

Located in downtown Punta Gorda, this authentic Austrian eatery serves one of the area’s most memorable Sunday brunches. Available by reservation only from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., guests will be treated to a five-course feast for just $40. Each meal includes an Austrian entrée like roast pork with sauerkraut and potato dumplings, as well as your choice of French onion soup, goulash soup or potato mushroom soup. There’s also a buffet-type spread with seasonal fruits, homemade granola and several other dishes for guests to enjoy, and each meal comes with smoked salmon, toast and various Viennese cakes. Guests can savor a selection of European wines and Austrian beers during brunch, too, for an additional fee.

Enjoy The Turtle Club’s patio during its new Saturday brunch

This coastal tavern in Punta Gorda recently began serving Saturday brunch from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. In addition to a selection of brunch classics, like custom-made omelets and buttermilk pancakes with flavors that change weekly, the à la carte menu features a variety of sumptuous starters, such as the Crispy Fried Oysters served with a sweet pepper remoulade. Other delightful dishes include the Banana French Toast topped with a cream cheese mousse and bananas foster’s rum sauce, and the Lump Crab Eggs Benedict made with poached eggs, a toasted English muffin, spinach and béarnaise. Live blues music on the patio completes this casually elegant brunch experience.
