Las Vegas is well stocked with steakhouses, but if you’re seeking a truly glorious cut of beef in an elegant speakeasy-meets-men’s club kind of setting, then go to Oscars Beef • Booze • Broads. Located inside the Plaza Hotel & Casino’s iconic dome, you’ll have a one-of-a-kind view overlooking downtown’s Fremont Street Experience while indulging in a delectable dinner.
Former Las Vegas mayor, mob defense attorney and now chairman of the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority Host Committee Oscar Goodman opened Oscar’s in December 2011. It embodies his pleasure-seeking philosophy of life—so, as he would say, you should come “enjoy the beef, booze and broads!”
Dimly lit with dark wood accents, Oscar’s décor is masculine yet elegant. The Rat Pack, Elvis and even mafia bosses would feel right at home. With photos, newspaper clips and other memorabilia from Goodman’s past, you’ll be immersed in a cool, vintage Sin City vibe.
Start your evening off with a handcrafted cocktail in Oscar’s Lounge. The menu includes Goodman’s beloved martinis. You can take advantage of happy hour promotions every evening and on select nights there’s a reverse happy hour, too.
In addition to perfectly aged steaks cooked on a 600-degree grill, the restaurant features items that are inspired by Goodman’s family recipes or pay homage to his “friends.” Executive Chef Jeff Martell has taken old school classics and given them a new school twist.
This is especially true of the appetizers, which are not to be missed. The Mob Meatballs and Johnny Quinn’s Crab Cake are two popular choices. Benny’s House Made Ricotta, a creamy rosemary-and-garlic-infused ricotta cheese with tomato caper relish on toasted ciabatta, is utterly delicious.
But the Prime Rib is the star of the menu and comes in two sizes: Carolyn’s Cut and Oscar’s Bone-In (warning: this portion is huge). Both are melt-in-your-mouth tender. Joey C’s Filet Mignon and the Spicy Flame Charred Spilotro Steak are also good for serious meatheads. For those seeking other options, there are fish and veal dishes as well as the wonderful Nicky’s Roasted Chicken & Artichokes with natural jus and mashed potatoes.
You can complement your entrée with some equally unforgettable sides. Ralph’s Smashed Potatoes are deliciously decadent, or Shmuley’s Extraordinary Mac & Cheese is another perfect accompaniment.
Oscar’s is open nightly—the lounge from 4-11 p.m. and the restaurant from 5-10 p.m. For more information, go to oscarslv.com.
