Carson Kitchen’s Veal Meatballs

Dishes are anything but typical in Carson Kitchen at 124 S. 6th St. The sleek urban digs in the historic John E. Carson Motel boast an open kitchen and rooftop patio, as well as a menu of creative comfort foods. Social plates include Devil’s Eggs topped with caviar and crispy pancetta, and Veal Meatballs with sherry foie gras cream. Discover other unexpected flavor combinations with entrées such as the Cocoa-Espresso NY Strip—and, whatever you do, don’t miss out on the Glazed Donut Bread Pudding!

Housed inside Holsum Lofts at 241 W. Charleston Blvd., with a second location in Summerlin, this family-style restaurant specializes in Cajun and Creole dishes. The delightful, artsy setting is perfect for a spicy food extravaganza featuring all the goodness of the Deep South. Start with the hand-formed Lump Blue Crab Cake, Char-Broiled Oysters or a cup of gumbo before savoring the Bronzed Catfish or Shrimp and Grits. Lola’s also serves up unforgettable po’ boys, jambalaya and desserts like Sweet Potato Pecan Pie with Chantilly cream.

Climb to the second level of Downtown Container Park to find this relaxed dining terrace offering fabulous views of the stage and playground area. The Perch’s food lives up to the lovely surroundings. Its seasonal sharing menu contains fresh salads as well as lip-smacking flatbreads and entrées, including Steak & Frites, Grilled Salmon and Chicken Quinoa. Plus, there’s a fantastic weekend brunch with everything from Brioche French Toast to Country Hash—not to mention the bottomless mimosas, Bloody Marys and bellinis.
