Dining in Las Vegas with Kids

By Heather Turk

Just because you’re traveling with kids doesn’t mean you have to eat at McDonald’s every day—especially in a culinary city like Las Vegas. Several restaurants in town offer kids’ menus, so adults can enjoy something other than fast food fare and indulge in a happy meal of their very own.

Located next to Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino, this Forrest Gump-themed seafood restaurant is sure to make a splash with adults and kids alike. While the server quizzes adults on Forrest Gump trivia, children ages 10 and younger can color and play games on their ocean-themed placemat, which also lists the kids’ menu options. Kids get their choice of entrée, side and drink, with such kid-approved selections as Popcorn Shrimp and Mini Corn Dogs, as well as Jell-O served in a fun paper boat. Adults, meanwhile, can relish such delectable dishes as the Certified Angus Top Sirloin or the Grilled Seafood Trio, the latter of which comes with the restaurant’s spiced Bourbon Street Mahi Mahi, Shrimp New Orleans and a Shrimp & Veggie Skewer. bubbagump.com

Known for its oversized portions of twisted farm food, this family favorite (with locations inside The LINQ Hotel & Casino, Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino and Plaza Hotel & Casino) has a kids’ menu for guests ages 10 and younger, featuring everything from Bacon Waffles to Griddled Meatloaf. Some of the items, like the Kid’s Burger with Fries, are even served in a toy tractor that guests can keep for just $4 more. Since portions are generous, it may be hard for kids to finish their meal, and adults will likely be packing up some leftovers, too—especially if they order the huge All Blue Crab Cakes or Andy’s Crispy Indiana Style Hand Hammered Pork Tenderloin. hashhouseagogo.com

This Italian restaurant located inside The Forum Shops at Caesars offers a menu of appetizers, pastas and pizzas just for kids, with items that include Calamari and Fettuccine Alfredo. Children are sure to love the hand-crafted Italian Sodas, too, which come in a variety of flavors like kiwi, strawberry and peach. While adults can enjoy a selection of appetizers, pastas and brick-oven fired pizzas as well, the tender Costola Breve—braised boneless beef short rib with ricotta gnocchi—is not to be missed, nor is the Eggplant Parmigiana. trevi-italian.com
