Las Vegas Foodie Favorites in Downtown Summerlin

By Heather Turk

Since opening in 2014, Downtown Summerlin has become a dining destination for Las Vegas foodies regardless of what side of town they live on. Located near Red Rock Resort, the open-air urban retail, dining and entertainment complex boasts a wide range of mouthwatering restaurants, guaranteeing something for every palate and pocketbook.

This stylish steakhouse is one of Downtown Summerlin’s most popular restaurants. Open for lunch, dinner and Saturday/Sunday brunch, the airy eatery serves an assortment of beautifully presented dishes, looking as good as they taste. The tender wood-fired Steak Frites served with a side of chimichurri is a must for lunch, as is the Roasted Beets appetizer, available for lunch or dinner, with whipped goat cheese, quinoa, blood orange, pistachios and sherry vinaigrette. Regardless of which items you choose, nothing from chef Kim Canteenwalla ever disappoints!

Colonel Sanders finally has some competition thanks to this New York City favorite, which uses a special blend of seasonings as well as egg whites and matzo meal to make its flavorsome fried chicken. Guests can order almost any part of the bird they like (Sunseeker recommends the 4 Piece Mix combo meal, which comes with a breast, whole wing, thigh and drumstick) and pair their selection with one of five tasty dipping sauces, like the sweet and spicy Chipotle Honey. Meaty chicken tenders and an impressive selection of chicken sandwiches are available as well, and guests can wash everything down with a Boylan soda from the soda fountain (try the Black Cherry). Whatever you decide on, be sure to get an order of Fries with the Works, French fries topped with aged cheddar, smoked bacon and sour cream, to share with the table.

This gastropub will school even the most discerning palates in the art of food and beer. Serving an eclectic mix of American favorites for lunch, dinner and Saturday/Sunday brunch as well as 24 craft beers on tap, taste buds are sure to be wowed by such delicious items as the Bacon Cheddar Tots, Fried Jidori Chicken & Green Chili Cornbread Waffles (a brunch favorite, topped with bacon red-eye gravy, maple syrup and fried egg) and Beer Battered Fish & Chips. For those who can’t finish everything they ordered, cute to-go bags with the word “homework” printed on them are available for leftovers.
