Contrary to the popular tourism tagline, what happens in Vegas doesn’t always stay in Vegas. In fact, almost every Las Vegas visitor wants their own “only-in-Vegas” story that they can share with others—especially those in town for spring break. Allegiant passengers looking for an only-in-Vegas adventure sure to make their friends and family back home envious can go behind the scenes at one of the city’s most beloved productions with Blue Man Group’s Behind the Blue experience.

Priced at just $55 with any ticket purchase, this interactive 75-minute tour takes place each night before Blue Man Group’s first performance. Guests will meet up with their tour guide in the theater lobby two hours prior to show time to sign a waiver and pick out their complimentary luminescent souvenir from the gift shop before being escorted into the showroom. Participants will then be led onstage where they can view Blue Man Group’s inventive instruments up close, even having the opportunity to play a few of the pieces like the Spider-Drum and PVC. Be sure to bring your smartphones to capture some footage so you can show off your drumming skills on social media!

During Blue Man Group’s Behind the Blue experience participants get the chance to play the Drumbone.

After learning some of the show’s secrets, including what Blue Man Group’s custom-made grease-based makeup feels like, guests will briefly be taken outside of the showroom to see photos from Blue Man Group’s 25-year history posted on the theater’s walls. One photo that’s particularly noteworthy is of Blue Man Group’s founders, Chris Wink, Matt Goldman and Phil Stanton, walking through New York City with a casket signifying the death of the ’80s as a way to welcome the ’90s. The bit was filmed by MTV News, thrusting Blue Man Group into the national spotlight for the first time.

The Behind the Blue experience concludes with participants sitting in on that evening’s sound check where the cast and crew warm up for the night’s performances. Guests will see the Blue Men run through a few songs and watch them practice one of the show’s signature bits where one Blue Man throws gumballs and marshmallows into the other two Blue Men’s mouths.

Blue Man Group performs nightly inside Luxor Hotel and Casino, dark March 1.
